Trevor's Baked Beans

Trevor's recipe, add bacon on top to finish.

Ingredients

cups Jacob's cattle beans
1/2
cup white sugar
1/2
tsp ginger
1/2
tsp dry mustard
1
medium onion, chopped
1 1/2
tbsp molasses
1/4
tsp salt & pepper
1
bud garlic, diced
1
tbsp margarine
6
strips bacon
1
cup ketchup
Directions
1.
Parboil beans the night before.
2.
Make sure the skins split and the beans are soft.
3.
In the am drain the beans.
4.
Add sugar, ginger, dry mustard, onion, molasses, salt & pepper, garlic and margarine.
5.
Place in large roast pan and cover with water.
6.
Bake at 300 degrees for several hours, checking often to ensure beans do not dry up.
7.
With 1 hour remaining, uncover and add a couple squirts of ketchup, cover with bacon.
8.
Return to oven and bake for 1 hour.
