Cocoa Fudge Cake

A rich, slightly red chocolate cake with real chocolate flavor

Ingredients

cup SOFTASILK Cake Flour or 1 2/3 cups GOLD MEDAL Flour*
1 1/2
cups sugar
2/3
cup cocoa
1 1/2
tsp soda
1
tsp salt
1 1/2
cups buttermilk
1/2
cup shortening
2
eggs
1
tsp vanilla
Directions
1.
Heat oven to 350 degrees
2.
Grease and flour oblong pan (13x9x2 inches or two 8- or 9- inch round layer pans)
3.
Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl.
4.
Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
5.
Pour into prepared pan (s).
6.
Bake oblong 35 to 40 minutes, layers 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Frost as desired. *Do not use Self-Rising Flour in this recipe
