Barbecued Spareribs

Ingredients
3
lb Spareribs
1
medium onion
2
tbsp butter or margarine
2
tbsp vinegar
2
tbsp brown sugar
4
tbsp lemon juice
1
cup ketchup
1
tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1
tsp mustard
1/2
cup chopped celery
1/2
cup water
salt & pepper
Directions
1.
Have spareribs cut into pieces for serving. Place in a baking dish and roast, uncovered, in a moderate oven (350 degrees F) for about 30 minutes.
2.
Brown the onion in butter or other fat. Add the vinegar, brown sugar, lemon juice, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, celery and water and cook slowly for 30 minutes, until flavors are blended.
3.
Pour over browned spareribs and cook in a moderate oven (350 degrees F) about 45 minutes longer or until meat is tender.
4.
NOTE: Additional seasoning may be added, if desired.
