Walnut Pound Cake

Ingredients

cups butter or margarine
2
cups sugar

eggs, separated
4 1/2
cups sifted cake flour
2
cups ground walnuts
SUGAR GLAZE:
1/2
cup confectioner's sugar
1/2
cup milk
Directions
1.
Cream butter or margarine until very light. Add sugar gradually and beat until fluffy. Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon-colored. Add to creamed mixture and blend thoroughly. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add egg whites alternately with flour, beating well after each addition.

Fold in walnuts. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours or until cake tests done. Cool on rack for 5 minutes, then turn out of pan. Cool thoroughly. Pour Sugar Glaze slowly over top of cake if desired.

Beat until well blended. Pour over cake.
