Gradually stir powdered sugar into butter or margarine, beat well. Add drained pineapple, a teaspoon at a time, until you reach a good spreading consistency. (You may not need all of the crushed pineapple, so don't add all at once!). Add vanilla and beat hard. Frosts top and sides of two 8 or 9-inch layers.
