Chocolate Sundae Pie

Original recipe indicated Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Frosting Dry mix. Not sure if they still make this, but King Arthur has a dry frosting mix.

Ingredients

package Chocolate Fudge Frosting Dry Mix
1 1/2
cups whipping cream
1
9-inch baked pie shell
Syrup (see below)
1/3
cup finely chopped nuts
Optional: Chocolate chips
SYRUP:
1
cup frosting mix
2
tbsp hot water
1
tsp light corn syrup
Directions
1.
Measure 1 cup frosting mix (dry mix); set aside. In small mixer bowl, chill whipping cream and remaining frosting mix (dry mix) at least 1 hour.

Bake pie shell. Prepare syrup; pour into cooled pie shell, reserving 2 tablespoons. Brush over bottom and side of pie shell. Sprinkle with nuts. Beat frosting mix and cream until stiff. Pour over nuts. Drizzle reserved syrup over top. Marble top by drawing a spatula back and forth across the top of pie. Add chocolate chips if desired. Freeze. Remove from freezer 20 minutes before serving.

SYRUP: Beat reserve 1 cup frosting mix, 2 tablespoons hot water and 1 teaspoon light corn syrup until smooth.
