Ingredients

cup molasses
3
tbsp shortening
1
cup plus 2 tbsp sifted flour
1/8
tsp baking soda
1
tsp ginger
1/2
tsp salt
Directions
1.
Heat the molasses to boiling and blend with the shortening. Sift flour once, measure and resift with the salt, baking soda and ginger. Add to the shortening mixture. Mix until smooth. Chill thoroughly. Roll out to about one-eighth inch thickness on a floured board. Cut with a lightly floured cookie cutter. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in a moderate oven, 350 degrees, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until done.
