Beat the eggs until stiff enough to hold in soft peaks, then add the sugar, two tablespoons at a time, beating after each addition until sugar is blended, finally adding the vanilla and vinegar.

Bake in two greased 9-inch layer pans, or spring form pans, in a 250 degree oven for about one hour, or until crisp. Remove at once from the pans, being careful not to break the layers. When cool and ready to serve put fresh sweetened berries or other fruit between the layers, and garnish with whipped cream; or spread ice cream between the layers and pile fruit and whipped cream on the top.

For meringue shells; drop meringue mixture from spoon onto very lightly greased baking sheet and form slight hollow in center. Bake until crisp as above directed.
