In a 4-quart glass bowl, mix together dates, nuts, flour, and baking powder. If desired, stir in cinnamon.

Beat egg whites until soft peak stage. Gradually add sugar until stiff peak stage. Fold egg whites into date mixture then turn into 8 x 8" glass pan. Microwave 5 minutes on 70% then 2 minutes on HIGH or until mixture pulls away from edges of pan.

TO MAKE SAUCE: place brown sugar, flour, water, butter and vanilla in small glass bowl. Microwave 3 to 4 minutes on HIGH or until sauce begins to thicken. Serve over cooled pudding. Yield: 6-8 servings
