Penne With Sweet & Spicy Sausage

Easy weeknight pasta sauce, but equally suitable for weekend guests.

Ingredients

tbsp olive oil
1/2
lb hot Italian sausage, casing removed
1/2
lb sweet Italian sausage, casing removed
2
cloves garlic
1
can (28 oz) whole tomatoes, chopped
1/2
cup heavy cream
1
cup frozen tiny peas, thawed
20
leaves fresh basil
1
lb penne rigate
Grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
Directions
1.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil and all of sausage, crumbling the meat as it browns.
2.
Add chopped garlic to pan and cook until just colored. Stir in tomatoes and bring to a boil.
3.
Reduce heat and simmer about 10 minutes. Stir in cream and season with salt and pepper.
4.
Stir in peas and basil.
5.
Cook pasta, drain and add to pan with sauce. Stir until well blended. Serve with grated cheese.
