Grandma Flo's Baked Beans

Traditional baked beans handed down through the generations. The rule with this recipe is the more ham, the better! This a good all day recipe, awesome for football Sundays.

Ingredients

cups dried beans
1
tbsp baking soda
1/3
lb ham hock
3
tbsp brown sugar
1
tsp salt
3
tbsp molasses
1/2
tsp dried mustard
1
medium onion, diced
2
tbsp ketchup
water, as needed
Directions
1.
Soak beans overnight. Drain, saving water from overnight soak. (Full of vitamins.)
2.
Refill with clean water. Bring beans to a boil. Remove from heat, add baking soda; stir, then drain.
3.
Mix all other ingredients in the bean pot. Add beans. Bake at 300°F for 6-8 hours. Keep covered with water.
