Classic Vanilla Bean

This is my favorite vanilla ice cream recipe, and whether you chose to make it with vanilla bean or not; this homemade ice-cream is simply a must-have classic.

Ingredients
1
cup of Heavy Cream
1/2
cup Milk
1/3
cup White Sugar
3
egg yolks
pinch of salt
1
vanilla bean
Directions
1.
Simmer cream, milk , sugar + salt on medium heat until sugar has dissolved.
2.
Slice the vanilla pod in half and scrape out the beans into the cream/milk mixture.
3.
Whisk egg yolks in separate bowl
4.
In thirds, introduce the cream mixture into the egg yolks; whisk very fast. Be sure to not cook the egg or your custard will end up very lumpy.
5.
Return the egg and milk mixture back to the stovetop
6.
Cook this mixture until the custard thickens and coats the back of a wooden spoon
7.
Do not over cook custard or the egg will cook
8.
Remove from heat and strain the custard
9.
Chill using one of the following methods:

-ice cream churner
11.
-slowly add crushed dry ice to the mixture into a churning stand mixer until the base has reached desired consistency
12.
- liquid nitrogen method
13.
-any other preferred freezing method
