Candied Yams

I got this recipe from Kathy Currence in the 1970's. I met Kathy in 1969 at Duke Power and we have been very good friends since then. Fall/Winter family dinners always have to have this recipe.

Ingredients
5-7
large sweet potatoes

cups sugar
1
stick butter or margarine

tbsp vanilla flavoring
1/4
cup water
Directions
1.
Wash and peel sweet potatoes. Slice potatoes longways. lay potatoes on top of each other in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Add water, sugar, butter (cut into slices) and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 and 1/2 hours. Do not cover. Stir twice during baking.
