Pound Cake

I got this recipe in the late 1960's from my Mother in Law, Eunice (Jane) Wilson. She was well known for her delicious pound cakes.

Ingredients

stick butter
1
stick margarine
3
cups sugar
5
eggs
1
cup milk
3
cups plain flour
1/2
cup Crisco
pinch of salt
1
tsp baking powder
1
tsp vanilla
2
lemon, orange or almond flavoring
Directions
1.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour tube pan. Mix sugar and butter, add eggs 1 at a time unbeaten. Add milk and flour alternately. Add rest of ingredients. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let the cake sit 5 minutes before removing from pan.
