Made From Scratch Lasagna

Out of all of my Grandmother's recipes, this was the one that everyone always agreed was the best, plain and simple.

Ingredients
2
cans (28 oz) italian style, peeled tomatoes
4
cans (8 oz) tomato sauce
4
tsp salt (divided)
3
tsp dried oregano
2
tsp onion salt
2
cups minced onions
2
cloves of garlic, minced
1/3
cup olive oil
2
lb ground chuck, drained
2
tsp of accent
3/4
lb lasagna noodles
2
tbsp oil
2
lb cottage cheese
1
lb mozzarella cheese
1 1/2
lb grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
1.
Combine in large saucepan: tomatoes, tomato sauce, 2 tsp salt, oregano, and onion salt.

Start simmering these ingredients uncovered.
3.
In a saute pan, add onions, garlic, olive oil until golden brown.
4.
Add ground chuck, accent, and 2 tsp salt.
5.
Cook until meat is done, then add to tomato sauce.
6.
Simmer 2.5 hours.
7.
Prepare lasagne noodles according to package, adding cooking oil in the water.
8.
Drain and separate noodles.
9.
Preheat oven to 350°.
10.
In a 9x13 pan, layer: lasagna noodles, 1/3 of cottage cheese, 1/3 of mozzarella cheese, and 1/3 of Parmesan cheese, then add 1/3 sauce.
11.
Repeat layers twice.
12.
Dust with Parmesan cheese.
13.
Bake 40 minutes, then remove and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
