The Sweet Pear

Halved Pears with Fig and Pine Nut filling. This Italian desert is a refreshing flavour for anyone with a sweet tooth. Paired with a Mixed Berry Sherbet, your mouth will water.

Serves 4people
pears, cut in halves with cores scooped out
cup of chopped dried figs
cup of pine nuts, coarsely chopped
tbsp honey
pinch of salt
dash of cinnamon
tsp vanilla extract
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place pear halves cut side up in a shallow baking dish. In a bowl, combine figs, pine nuts, honey, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stuff each pear with one quarter of the mixture. Pour a half cup to a cup of water (depends on the size of your baking dish) in the baking dish surrounding the pears. Bake for one hour or until pears are soft and cooked all the way through.
