Sweet And Sour Meatballs

This was my mother's recipe and it was always a crowd pleaser, I hope you enjoy! Love, Aunt Carole Ogram

Prep
Cook
Serves 100people
Ingredients
2
lb lean ground beef
1/2
lb ground pork
1/2
lb ground veal
1
medium yellow onion, grated
1
tbs dry parsley
2
large eggs
1
tsp garlic powder
1/2
cup bread crumbs
1
36 oz jar prepared spaghetti sauce
1
can jellied cranberry sauce
Directions
1.
Combine meat, onion, parsley, eggs and garlic powder in a large bowl; mix well (best if done by hand)
2.
Add the bread crumbs, a little at a time, until you have a good consistency to form meatballs (you do not need to use all of the breadcrumbs)
3.
Set the meat aside
4.
In a large, heavy pot melt the cranberry sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly
5.
Add the spaghetti sauce, bring to a simmer and simmer for 15 minutes (stir occasionally)
6.
Form your meatballs, they are supposed to be small, so a cookie scooper is good for size control (you will get approximately 100-125 balls)
7.
Gently drop them into the sauce as you make them
8.
Simmer for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally
9.
The meatballs can be served from a chafing dish or a crockpot to keep them hot
10.
You can use catering size rolls or toothpicks on a platter to serve meatballs
11.
Note: if you want more gravy, you can add more spaghetti sauce, but no more cranberry sauce
