Root Beer Sloppy Joes

These sloppy joes are a quick dinner. I think the sandwiches taste better if you toast the buns in the oven prior to serving. The sandwiches are also good with a slice of cheddar cheese added. Serve with French fries, baked beans, and a tossed salad.

Ingredients

tsp oil

cup chopped onion

garlic cloves, minced

ozs 90% lean ground sirloin
1/2
cup tomato sauce
1/2
cup bottled Heinz chili sauce
1/2
cup root beer
1
tsp Worcestershire sauce
1
tsp dry mustard
1
tsp chili powder
1
tsp tomato paste
hamburger buns, toasted
Directions
1.
In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat add oil. Swirl to coat pan.

Add onion and garlic and cook 3 minutes.
3.
Add beef and cook until brown and crumbles. Using a paper towel carefully soak up excess hamburger grease and discard.
4.
Stir in tomato sauce and next 6 ingredients (through tomato paste). Bring to a simmer.
5.
Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6.
Taste sloppy joe mix and adjust spices to your liking.
