Peanut Butter Blossoms

These are a classic, the famous hershey kiss cookie. My mom always used melting chocolates as the center, and I do, too. They're easier to eat that way, and you can use dark chocolate which we prefer. Here's a trick a cousin taught me. Pop a cold one in the microwave for 10 seconds and boom! Melty chocolate and gooey cookie, even if it's not so fresh out of the oven.

Prep
Cook
Serves 45people
Ingredients
1/2
cup peanut butter
1/2
cup shortening
1/2
cup sugar
1/2
cup brown sugar
1
tsp vanilla extract
1
egg
1 3/4
cup flour
1
tsp baking soda
2
tbs milk
sugar for rolling
dark chocolate melting candies
Directions
1.
Preheat oven to 375. Cream together peanut butter and shortening. Add sugars and vanilla and mix. Beat in one egg.
2.
Sift together flour and baking soda. Slowly mix into peanut butter mixture until dough forms.
3.
Roll dough into 1" balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet 2" apart.
4.
Bake 10-12 minutes until golden and remove from oven. Immediately top each cookie with chocolate candy, pressing down so cookie cracks around it. Remove from baking sheet and cool completely on rack. These will have to cool for at least one hour to allow the chocolate to harden again.
