Spicy Red Basil Sauce Goes With Polenta

Delicious Red Sauce that is dairy free and gluten free. You will love!

Ingredients
Spicy tomato-basil sauce:
2
cans crushed tomatoes, with puree
1/4
cup pine nuts

tbs olive oil
1/2
medium onion, chopped
4
-6 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2
tsp crushed red pepper (i doubled this to a full teaspoon.)
1/2
cup chopped fresh basil
1/3
cup dry white wine
1
tsp dried oregano
salt and pepper
Directions
1.
Prepare sauce the day of serving.
2.
Blend a cup of your tomatoes with pine nuts.
3.
Heat oil in a large pan and then add onions, garlic, fennel seed and red pepper.

Cook until the onions are soft, about 5 minutes.

Add the rest of your crushed tomatoes, the wine, the oregano, pine nut and tomato puree, and half of the basil. Stir this all together and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
6.
Cut polenta into triangles.
7.
Heat up a Tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over high heat. When it’s hot, add your polenta. Brown each side 7 minutes or until crispy.
8.
Serve the polenta with sauce!
