Caramel Candy Bars

Ingredients

cups flour
1 1/2
cups brown sugar

tsp salt
1
tsp vanilla
2
cups quick cooking oats
1
tsp baking soda
1
cup margarine, softened
1
egg
6
ozs pkg chocolate chips
1
cup nuts
14
ozs pkg light colored caramels
1/2
cup cream or evaporated milk
Directions
1.
Heat oven to 350. Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, vanilla, egg and margarine. Mixture will be very stiff and crumbly. Press mixture in pan saving some to sprinkle on top. Bake 10 min. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Mix caramels with milk and melt in double boiler. Pour over chocolate and nuts. Crumble remaining mixture on top. Bake 20 min. Cool. Cut into small bars. Mixture freezes well.
