Sausage And Wild Rice

From Scott ~ Langeliers’ family staple...

Ingredients
1
pkg 6 oz long grain and wild rice (Uncle Ben's original recipe)
1
lb bulk pork sausage
1
cup chopped onion
1/4
cup flour
1 1/2
cups chicken stock
1
tsp black pepper
1/4
cup cream
Directions
1.
Prepare packaged rice (I add extra wild rice and water).

Meanwhile, sauté sausage, breaking it into small pieces. If sausage is fatty, pour off excess fat and add onions, cooking until they are soft.

prinkle with flour and mix well. Add chicken stock and pepper and stir until thickened, add cream, then add rice mixture

Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes

(To make ahead and serve in the morning, prepare to the “add cream” stage. Refrigerate sausage and rice mixtures separately, then combine and bake the next day. When there are leftovers, we cook vegetables from the garden, reheat the sausage and rice, then combine for dinner.)
