French Onion Soup By Mummy

My darling Sivanne, This is another family favorite, its one that i make and everyone loves it. It is a lot of work but totally worth it. Enjoy Love Mummy xxx

Ingredients

lb onion
2
oil
salt and pepper

pt stock
125
dry white wine
25
gr marg or butter
1
tsp sugar
25
gr flour
Directions
1.
Peel and slice onions thinly.
2.
Melt butter or marg with the oil and as soon as it stops foaming add the onions ad turn to coat in butter.
3.
Cover and cook gently for 15 mins.
4.
Uncover, add the sugar, salt and pepper and continue to cook for another 20 mins until onions are rich golden brown.
5.
Sprinkle in the flour and combine to cook for another 30 mins, then add the hot stock.
6.
Stir in the wine.
7.
Simmer, half covered for an hour.
8.
Serve with crusty bread and Parmesan cheese.
