Helen's Hungarian Nut Roll

Grandma Helen Szaller's recipe. Makes 4 rolls.

Ingredients
Bread Dough
Bread Dough:
6
cups flour
1
tsp salt
1/2
cup sugar
2
packages dry yeast
1/2
cup warm milk
2 1/2
sticks butter
3
eggs, beaten
8
oz sour cream
Filling:
6
egg whites
1
cup sugar
1
lb ground walnuts
1/2
tsp cinnamon
1
tsp vanilla
Melted butter
Filling
Directions
1.
Cut butter into flour until mixture resembles course meal (like pie crust).
2.
Dissolve yeast in the warm milk, then add to flour mixture.
3.
Add sugar to sour cream; add beaten eggs; then add to flour mixture. Knead well then let rest while you prepare filling.
4.
For filling, beat egg whites thoroughly; add sugar, walnuts, cinnamon, and vanilla.
5.
Divide dough into four parts and roll each piece into a rectangle.
6.
Brush each piece with melted butter and spread with the filling; roll tightly like a jelly roll.
7.
Place loaves on greased cookie sheet; let rest for 2 hours.
8.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30-35 minutes until nicely brown.
