Gloria Price's Chicken Paprikas

This is one of my all time favorite polish recipes! My mom was the absolute best at making this..i'm still trying to find a way to do it justice. Enjoy! Kim Price

Ingredients

pieces of chicken with bone and skin (legs/thighs/breasts) Dark meat produces better flavor
1
onion chopped
1-2
stalks celery
1
tbsp paprika
3-4
chicken boilion cubes
2
tbsp flour
1/4
pt sour cream
salt and pepper
Dumplings:
2
cups flower
3
eggs
milk and water
Directions
1.
Brown chicken in pan. Salt, pepper and paprika both sides of chicken. Be generous with salt otherwise gravy bland. When brown on both sides, add chopped onion and celery. Add 2 boulion cubes to 1 cup of hot water. Pour over chicken and cook about an hour. When chicken tender, remove from pan and add 1/4 pint sour cream. Mix some water with 2 TBSP flour and add to mixture to thicken.

Taste the mixture. If lacks flavor, add more cubes. If bland add little more salt and pepper. If too thick add more liquid. If too thin, a little more flour.

I take the skin off the chicken and put it back in the gravy.

Dumplings:

a little salt

add milk and water until a little gooey

drop by small teaspoonfuls into boiling water. They become bigger in water.
10.
When float to top, done. It is very fast like a few minutes
