Saucy Short Ribs

Slow-Cooker Saucy Short Ribs. Come home to this hearty beef short ribs and onion recipe slow cooked with condensed cream of celery soup.

Ingredients

cup - ketchup

tbsp - red wine

tbsp - Worcestershire sauce

/2 tbsp - brown sugar

/2 tsp - prepared mustard

tsp - chilli powder

/2 tsp - salt

tsp - pepper

lb (1.3 kg) - short ribs fat trimmed

tbsp - vegetable oil
1
large (1/2 lb / 225 g) - onion chopped

/4 cups - water
1
tbsp - flour
Directions
1.
Recipe can be reduced to one-third by reducing all ingredients proportionately.
2.
In a bowl, combine all ingredients except ribs, oil, onion, water and flour. Add ribs. Mix well and marinate overnight in the refrigerator or for at least 4 hours.

Divide ribs into 2 batches. Reserve marinade. Heat oil in cooker for about 2 minutes. Brown each batch on all sides and remove.

To the remaining oil in cooker, add onion. Stir fry till onion is transparent. Add ribs, marinade and 1 cup water. Stir.

Close cooker . Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook for 30 minutes.

Remove cooker from heat. Allow to cool naturally.
7.
Open cooker. Place short ribs on serving dish. Keep hot.
8.
Drain off fat from cooking liquid. In a separate bowl, gradually add remaining water (¼ cup) to flour blending until smooth. Using a wire whisk, gradually add this mixture to liquid in cooker. Place cooker on medium heat. Cook until sauce thickens (approximately 3 minutes), stirring constantly. Pour sauce over meat. Serve hot.
