Bread Pudding

Great recipe especially with the homemade caramel.

Ingredients

cups cubed stale or ciabatta bread
3
cups milk
1
cup egg
1
cup sugar
2/3
cup raisins
1/4
cup melted butter
2
tsp vanilla extract
2
tsp cinnamon
1/2
tsp kosher salt (if desired)
for caramel sauce
1/2
cup vanilla ice cream
1/4
cup butter
1/4
cup white sugar
Directions
1.
In a heavily buttered 9x13 casserole dish spread the bread evenly.

Mix all the remaining ingredients in a bowl well and pour the mixture over the bread.
3.
Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours.

Bake for 40-55 minutes until custard is set but not dried out. Serve warm with the caramel sauce

For Caramel Sauce -

Melt butter and sugar in pan stirring constantly.
7.
When melted through, add the ice cream while constantly stirring
8.
Once the sauce thickens remove from heat and serve immediately.
9.
If the pan is too hot it will candy the sugars and ruin the sauce.
