Instapot Refried Beans

One of the boys favorites! Can be made in a crockpot, or a borrowed InstaPot ;)

Ingredients
1
lb dry pinto beans
Enough water to cover the beans
1/2-1
tsp of Onion Powder (to taste)
1/2-1
tsp of Garlic Powder (to taste)
2-3
tbsp of bacon grease
1/2-1
cups Mexican shredded cheese
Directions
1.
Rinse beans and remove any funky beans or rocks (no need to soak)
2.
Put dry beans in InstaPot or Crockpot, cover with water
3.
Season water & beans with onion and garlic salt (1/2 tsp or so)
4.
For InstaPot: place on manual setting for 120 minutes, once done and the pressure is released, turn setting to sauce and smash beans until smooth
5.
Add bacon grease, cheese and stir until melted
6.
Enjoy!

For Crockpot: Follow the same steps above for your crockpot, and cook on high for 8 hours, you may need to add more water as the beans cook
8.
Tip: when beans turn a Medium to dark brown, they are ready to smash
