Mom's Baked Easter Ham
Gram use to make a wonderful Easter meal and a baked ham was always center stage for our traditional holiday meal. Mom continued the tradition and in 2019 started adding (to great approval) pineapple rings to the top - so yummy AND pretty!
Preheat the oven to 350°F | 150°C and arrange a rack in the lower third. Remove any plastic packaging or netting from the ham. Trim away the rind and any unwanted fat so the glaze has a chance to really coat the meat. Set the ham aside to rest at room temperature for 1-2 hours.
2.
Prepare the glaze by combining the brown sugar and mustard. Generously coat the entire ham with the glaze using a brush (most recipes require more sugar than mustard, we prefer a less sweet version). You can make extra and baste the ham every 15 minutes or so, but it's not necessary.
3.
Add the cloves - push a clove inside the meat every inch or so so it covers the entire ham and flavors the ham evenly.
4.
Bake the ham, uncovered, for 1-1.5 hours (until heated thoroughly). Transfer ham to serving platter; let cool at least 15 minutes. Slice ham and serve slightly warm or at room temperature.
