Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Our Mom used to make these chocolate chip cookies and I always thought these were the best cookies ever! I have the original handwritten recipe in Mom's recipe box at our home. It was from her friend, Carol Callaway.

Ingredients
1
cup margarine
1/2
cup granulated sugar
1/2
cup brown sugar
1
egg
1/2
tsp vanilla
1
tsp baking soda
2 1/4
cups sifted flour
1
tsp salt
1
(12 oz) package chocolate chips
1/2
cup nuts (optional)
Directions
1.
Cream the margarine, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
2.
Add the egg and vanilla.
3.
Beat in the flour, baking soda and salt.
4.
Stir in the chocolate chips. (optional: add nuts)
5.
Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees.
