Vicki Bennedic's Sausage Lasagna

This is Momma D's favorite lasagna. The Bennedics are friends through Bill and Sue.

Ingredients

lb italian sausage
1
clove garlic, minced
1
tbsp whole basil
1 1/2
tsp salt
1
(2 cup) tomatoes
2
(1 1/3 cup) tomato paste
10
oz lasagna noodles
3
cups ricotta cheese
1/2
cup grated parmesan or romano cheese
2
tbsp parsley flakes
2
beaten eggs
1
tsp Salt
1/2
tsp pepper
1
lb mozzarella cheese, sliced very thin or grated
Directions
1.
Brown meat slowly, spoon off excess fat.
2.
Add next 5 ingredients, simmer uncovered 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
3.
Cook noodles in boiling salted water until tender, drain, rinse
4.
Combine remaining ingredients, except Mozzarella cheese.
5.
Place half the noodles in 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Spread with half the Ricotta cheese filling, add half the Mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce, repeat layers.
6.
Bake at 375 about 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting in squares - filling will set slightly.
7.
Can assemble early and refrigerate. Be sure to allow 15 minutes or so longer in the oven.
