Creme Brulee

Eric and Eric Jr's favorite dessert!

Serves 5people
Ingredients
1
extra large egg
4
extra large egg yolks
1/2
cup sugar, plus 1 additional Tbs for each serving
3
cups heavy whipping cream
1
tsp vanilla
1
tbsp grand marnier or other
Directions
1.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2.
In bowl of electric mixer using the paddle attachment, mix together egg, egg yolks and 1/2 c sugar on low until combined.
3.
In small saucepan scald cream till hot but not boiled
4.
With mixer on low, slowly add cream to egg mixture
5.
Add vanilla and liquor
6.
Pour into 5 or 6 ramekins until almost full
7.
Place ramekins in a baking pan and carefully add boiling water to pan to come halfway up side of ramekins
8.
Bake in oven for 35-40 minutes until custards are set when gently shaken
9.
Remove ramekins from hot water and cool at room temp and refrigerate until firm
10.
To serve, spread 1 Tbs sugar evenly on top of each ramekin and heat with kitchen blowtorch until sugar caramelizes evenly
11.
Cool at room temperature and enjoy!
