Preheat the oven to gas mark 5. Line a cupcake tray with 12 cases.

Beat the butter and caster sugar in a bowl until pale and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and half of the vanilla extract and then fold in the flour.

Divide between the cases and then bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. When cooked cool in the tray for 5 minutes and then remove and cool on a cooling rack.

Whilst the cakes are cooling, beat the icing sugar and unsalted butter together. Add in the rest of the vanilla extract and the milk until creamy. Spread on the cakes and then serve and enjoy!
