Chocolate Babka

Babka Bundt Cake Recipe By: Paula Shoyer “The Kosher Baker”

Ingredients

cup Warm water
1/2
cup Sugar

tsp Sugar

pkg or 4 1/2 tsp dry yeast

cups Flour (all purpose)

stick Margarine
1/2
cup Canola oil
2
large plus one egg white eggs
filling
1
cup Sugar
1/2
cup Cocoa
2
sticks Margarine - soft
1
cup Chocolate chips - mini
Directions
1.
Make Dough Combine water, 1 tsp. sugar and yeast in mixing bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add remaining 1/2 cup sugar, flour, margarine, oil, eggs. Combine until all ingredients are mixed in. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let rise 2-4 hours.

Filling Whisk together sugar and cocoa. Add margarine and beat well.

Preheat oven to 350. spray and flour tube pan or bundt pan.

Divide dough in half. Roll out first half to 10 x 7 rectangle. Spread with half of filling, sprinkle with half of chocolate chips. Roll up tightly the long way. Cut off and reserve the end pieces. Cut the rest of the roll into one inch slices and place cut side down in bottom of pan - keeping shape round. Place more slices along sides of pan in a similar manner. Roll out second piece of dough, fill, roll, cut. Continue placing slices as needed for outside and then use remaining slices to fill the inside.

Bake 40 minutes or till top is golden brown. Cool for at least 1 1/2 hours before inverting. Store covered at room temperature for up to five days or freeze.
