packages dry yeast

cup warm water (105°-115°)

tbsp sugar

tsp salt
1/2
cup butter flavor crisco
1/2
cup sugar
1
cup boiling water
3
eggs, beaten
41/2
cups flour
Butter flavor crisco for deep frying
Directions
1.
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 1 Tbsp. sugar. Combine 1/2 cup butter flavor crisco, 1/2 cup sugar and salt in large bowl of electric mixer. Add boiling water. Mix on low speed until shortening melts. Cool until warm. Add eggs, ueast mixture and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in remaining flour with wooden spoon. Let rise 1 hour at room temperature. Heat crisco to 350° in deep fryer. Roll out 1/4 of dough into 8x12 inch rectangle. Cut into 2" squares. Fry a few at a time about 1 minute on each side. Drain. Serve with jam or honeybutter or dip in sugar.
