Caramel Apple Ice Cream Topping

Sweet and warm apple topping made with fresh apples and few other staples like butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Delicious over vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

cup butter
3-4
large Fuji apples, peeled cored and sliced thin
1
cup brown sugar
1/4
cup white granulated sugar
1/4
cup water (rum can be substituted)
1
tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2
cup chopped walnuts
Directions
1.
Melt butter over medium heat in a skillet or wide bottom saucepan.
2.
Add apples, sugars, water and cinnamon.
3.
Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring often, until liquid has become a semi-thick liquid and apples are soft. If apples are not soft as the liquid thickens, simply add a little more water and continue cooking.
4.
Add walnuts and stir to coat with syrup.
5.
Remove from heat and serve over ice cream.
