Grandma Chevallaz's Lemon Icebox Cake

Ingredients
3/4
cup sugar.
1
cup milk.
1/4
tsp salt.
1/4
cup lemon juice + lemon zest.
1
tbsp butter (melted)
1/2
pt (1 cup) whipping cream.
10
ladyfingers.
3
eggs separated + 1 Tbsp flour (best to use pasteurized which are heated in shells to destroy harmful bacteria, but as of 2019 all egg products sold in US are pasteurized)
Directions
1.
Add egg yolks and beat well.
2.
Add lemon juice and zest.
3.
Add milk + melted butter.
4.
Cook over low heat until thickened.
5.
Fold in beaten egg whits, blending gently.
6.
Fold in whipping cream.
7.
Cut ladyfingers in half an line bottom and sides of ice cube tray without separations.
8.
pour into ice cube tray and freeze.
