Fry the garlic clove and the onion in a little oil until soft. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato puree, a dollop of ketchup and the sugar. Bring to the boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 25 minutes until the sauce has thickened.

Whilst the sauce is thickening, cook the pasta according to the packet instructions.

Serve the pasta with the sauce, top with lots of grated cheese and enjoy!
